“Wear your hair like a crown.” That’s what we all want. All women want to be pretty, show their hair and be mistaken for models in the streets. But unfortunately, not all of us can wake up in the morning, brush our hair for only a minute and still look good. At least not if you are a black woman with stubborn natural hair like mine. It takes us time, and sometimes much more than we have. So one day, tired of the constant morning fights I have been having with my hair I decided to search for solutions.
We all use YouTube, for one reason or another. Whether it’s to be entertained, learn new skills, or look for a magic hair recipe, like I did. I found a few, but decided to try only one. And honestly, I am glad I did. You will too after reading this and trying out this recipe to soften your hair.
Luckily, this recipe is made of ingredients you can find anytime at your local groceries store. No fancy names, no invented product attributes. These are things you probably have in your kitchen right now; your everyday ingredients and/or vegetables. I made a few additions to the original recipe so you will only need:
2 avocados
2 eggs white
5 oz of olive oil
8 oz of Shea butter
Aluminium foil
A shower cap
A big comb
30 minutes – up to 1 hour of your time
-
First you will mix all the ingredients together. Make sure the mixture is smooth but thick enough. The last thing you want is to be cleaning the mask off your face every two seconds.
-
Then, you want to comb your hair, slowly. Use the type of combs that are good to detangle hair.
-
Apply the mask from bottom to top. Slowly. Don’t leave out any hair. Once you have gone through your full head, you want to massage your hair. Do with love, you hair will feel it and react back to that.
-
Cover you head with the aluminum foil. Again, don’t let any hair out. Next, cover it with your shower cap, or anything else.
-
Keep your hair covered for at least 20 minutes.
When the time is up, wash your hair with your favorite shampoo and use a good conditioner. I also advise to use a leaving conditioner after drying your hair. And that’s it! That’s the magic recipe. It would have been even simpler if I haven’t added the Shea butter and aluminum to the original recipe. But these are important. Shea butter is a good moisturizer and the aluminum foil makes the mixture work better as it allows enough heat.
I hope you will try it out and that it will work for you as good as it did for me. If so, feel free to share this post and also sign up to our newsletter to be notified as soon as we share other useful tips like this one.
Now, go wear you hair like a crown!
